The ladder back chair has a long history of compromise between comfort and form. The minimalist construction can be an aesthetic or production-minded goal, and most often sacrifices comfortable seating to that end. This style, dating back to the middle ages, is a perennial design challenge to the furniture maker. The ‘Perfect’ Ladder Back is a study in that tradition which achieves incredible comfort, rigid joinery and a uniquely elegant form.
